Diet drugs always get attention. Too many people have tried everything to lose weight. I want to analyze the information about Alli and Hoodia.
Alli is being promoted by Smith, Kline Glaxo. The write-up is very honest, saying that their pill is not magic and only in addition to exercise and a healthy diet. They say subjects who took Alli lost 2-3 pounds more than the 5 pounds lost by control subjects during the same time. If this is a healthy 5 lbs. a month, will another 2 pounds really make you want to use the pill? It works by causing 25% of the fat in your diet not to be absorbed. However the side effect of loose stools can be troublesome.
The write-up about Alli says nothing about possible non-absorption of desireable oil-soluble vitamins A, D, and E. or if it interferes with omega 3 fish oils or flax oil. I’m reminded of a product touted in the 1950s that would keep your body from absorbing sodium so you could keep your blood pressure normal. The product was a synthetic resin. Capsules would be too big, so they advised mixing it with your mashed potatoes. It was unacceptable by the public so marketing ceased. People said why not just use less salt Similarly, becasue of the potentially embarrassing side effects, wouldn’t you rather just use 25% less fat?

Weight loss OTC diet pill Alli works with regular physical activity, exercise and good food with low calorie diet. The first and only over-the-counter product for weight loss approved by the Food and Drug Administration is available in US now.

Last fall Dr. James Anderson, head of the UK College of Medicine Metabolic Research Group, and his colleagues examined the effects of OTC strength (60 mg) orlistat on mildly to moderately overweight individuals. The study was the first of its kind. Previously, the drug's effects had only been studied in obese individuals. Study participants took either orlistat or a placebo three times daily with meals for 16 weeks. Results of that study showed those taking OTC-strength orlistat did lose more weight than those taking the placebo.

First, the sobering news: Nearly half of all Americans over 85 suffer from Alzheimer's disease. Now, the encouraging news: There are things you can do to minimize your chances of losing big chunks of your brain power as you age.
Start with what you've been putting in your mouth. Several studies published in the Archives of Neurology and other medical journals determined people who consume foods high in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol have at least double the risk of developing Alzheimer's in the future.
Try to focus more on foods that are plant-based, such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. These foods will supply your body with lots of fiber and antioxidants, which help to keep your arteries unclogged and ready to deliver an abundant supply of blood to the brain.

Despite the multitude of products and treatments that promise to get rid of this stubborn skin nuisance, it still exists and is not clearly understood. Here, three dermatologists debunk common myths with tried and tested truths on how to remedy your cellulite woes.
1. Fact or fiction: Tanning hides cellulite
Fact, but tanning also worsens cellulite. "Tanning will only conceal the appearance of cellulite in the short term," says Dr. Mariusz Sapijaszko, medical director of the Western Canada Dermatology Institute in Edmonton. "[Over the] long term, ultraviolet radiation will weaken and thin the skin, exacerbating the look of cellulite."
According to Dr. Lisa Kellett, dermatologist at DLK on Avenue in Toronto, there are benefits for some who choose to tan, and skin-saving alternatives for others. "For fair-skinned people, tanning can improve the appearance of cellulite," she says. "But self-tanner is highly recommended."
